Los Angeles based producer HKFiftyOne drops three relentless dubstep tracks on his first release with Phantom Hertz Recordings entitled ‘The Descent’.
HKFiftyOne is an electronic dance music producer who specializes in dubstep and drumstep. Sean Payne, known as HKFiftyOne, has taken on other musical projects in the past years, but only recently has started producing dubstep. Since June, 2011, HKFiftyOne has been climbing the ranks of recognition and respect in the underground dubstep scene. As of February, 2012, he released his first collaborative EP with Red Mob, which was released on Heavy Artillery Recordings. The EP, Circus Weaponry, maintained a rank above 30 in the top 100 dubstep releases on Beatport for two and a half weeks. Because of their song Circus Weaponry (Urban Assult Remix), a drumstep remix of the orignal song, the EP also maintained a rank in the top 100 Drum And Bass releases for two weeks. HKFiftyOne focused on a darker, more brooding sound on this EP, The Descent, released on Phantom Hertz Recordings. Although the sounds on this EP are influenced by artists like Liquid Stranger, Excision, Downlink, and Bukez, HKFiftyOne’s producing abilities are very broad, and his is capable of producing many styles of dubstep, drumstep, drum & bass, electro house, moombahcore, and so much more. A clear example of this can be seen comparing Circus Weaponry to The Descent EP.
