M.A.K.Z. (a.k.a. Max Parker) is a Midlands based UK producer, DJ and blog owner who has his main focus on the deeper end of the 140 scale, but also likes to extend his production to the murky sounds of Grime and occasionally D&B (depending how he feels that particular day). Drawing inspiration from all over, his productions can be quite varied – which is a good thing most of the time. He first got introduced to the sounds of gully 140 minimal Dubstep when taking an interest in the weekly GetDarker shows, and after listening back to an old Beezy podcast he knew the genre was for him. Before that he played drums in an Indie band and wore skinny jeans, but that’s a different story completely – he still wears the jeans though.
With his first release in sight set to drop March 2013 on the new Phantom Hertz compilation and loads of fresh productions being built as we speak (which are much better than the old ones), hopefully 2013 will treat him better musically than the last couple of years. DJ wise, M.A.K.Z. has just recently got himself a regular weekly show on up-and-coming internet radio station Dusk FM where you can hear his 4D Show in action every Thursday 6-8pm (GMT). He’s also done a few guest mixes for the likes of FatKidOnFire, Anthologic’s ‘Badmon Radio’ on Dubplate FM and Zen Sessions and is the latest addition to the FKOF family where he puts out mixes every month via the popular blog showcasing all aspects of Grime music.
The future is looking gradually brighter for the 19 year old (and will hopefully come with a few more releases), with support lately from some of the bigger fish in the ever expanding ocean of the deep dubstep world like DjFoster, Anthologic, Pressa, Djinn, Majora and Beezy – 2013 is set to be a good year.
